The operational area for CORMP extends from estuaries to the coast, across the continental margin to the Gulf Stream, and from the SC/NC border to north of Cape Lookout.
There is currently a significant investment in extending and upgrading the observational array in the region to address geographic and real-time information needs.
This strategy is motivated by our commitment to provide a user-driven observing system that meets the needs of the public and the research community.
CORMP data is collected during monthly sampling cruises and via moored instruments. Cruise data collection activities occur monthly in the
Cape Fear River Plume and bi-monthly in Onslow Bay. View cruise description.
Moored instruments are located throughout Onslow Bay and the Cape Fear River Plume. Moorings include real-time buoys, pier based moorings,
and submerged instruments that are retrieved bi-monthly for data downloading. View mooring descriptions.
Sampled data submitted to the EPA throughout the Cape Fear region by many different organizations can be found using the EPA's Watershed data warehouse query tool.
